BMS Remote Monitoring & Support

Global Building Controls Ltd can now offer a remote monitoring & support service without the need for Static IP Addresses; The service costs about the same as a large coffee per day from your favourite coffee shop, so it is surprisingly cheap for the level of support that we offer. The service is generally available to customers who have a Trend maintenance contract with us; However we have extended this service to Non-Maintenance customers on a site by site basis, subject to a minimum remote service contract of 6 months per annum per site being taken up.

Our Remote Access Solution combined with our Remote Management and VPN connectivity Service provides you with instant access and connectivity to your remote desktop & panel PC's that are loaded with your BMS front end packages that you currently manage, without the need for modems or dial up routers, offering convenient access to remote computers (PCs and Macs) from virtually any Internet-connected web browser.

Our solution provides the following key features:*
* Remote, web-based management services by GBC
* Remote, web-based access by Customer
* Multi-computer support across multiple operating systems
* Monitoring the status of remote computers
* Computer resources Alerts become more proactive
* Reporting on important session and inventory information

The advantages of this service are that GBC can remote connect & diagnose problems with the front end PC, as well as the attached BMS controllers. Remote schematic creation or modification is possible, along with remote backup & restore of both the front end and the controller files. In addition, if you are new to BMS & need support in carrying out a particular task, we can take remote control over the Target PC to show you how to achieve what you were trying to do.

Security is paramount & this service uses the latest IT technology with SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), which is a protocol used to encrypt data transmitted over the Internet. The remote access software also uses 128 to 256 bit encryption to protect all passwords and data and includes such active defence features such as IP filtering and IP lockout if too many incorrect attempts are made whilst attempting to log in.

SSL protocol is commonly used by web sites that request confidential data such as credit card numbers or other private information. Web sites that use the SSL protocol have URLs that begin with https: rather than the standard http: GBC uses SSL to protect the data being transmitted when accessing a customers BMS computer remotely.

The remote access software used by GBC requires us to enter separate passwords to access both the secure access account for each customer and the Target PC's usual Windows login details. In addition we would also need to be set up as a user on the BMS software package and we would need to login with the correct user name and password, so as you can see there are three layers of security to get through before access is granted.

The remote access service is usually set up as an annual contract and would be subject to an initial set up fee, which may include a one off site visit. The service would then be subject to an annual renewal fee at a reduced cost providing continuous service is maintained.

Once set up, not only can our experienced team of controls engineers access the system to diagnose any faults, but any of the customers own trained staff can also use the service via a secondary remote access login account.

This service is subject to the Target PC being able to be connected to the internet at the clients site.

Trend Connect
For sites that do not have internet connectivity or for whatever reason cannot connect the Trend BEMS to their site LAN, we can offer Trend Connect, which is a remote connectivity solution that uses the 3G and GPRS mobile networks to provide secure and reliable Ethernet connectivity across the globe.

Rapid deployment of devices
Trend Connect is installed simply by plugging the modem into the mains, connecting and mounting its antenna and connecting its Ethernet cable to the BEMS. All that is left is for us to remotely configure the BEMS device that the modem has been linked to and data communications can begin. The service can be up and running within 24 - 48 hrs.
